ABAN

I recently shot a series of products for ABAN (A Ban Against Neglect).

“ABAN is an organization working to solve two problems with one united solution. Every day, over 40 tons of plastic waste is thrown into the streets of Accra, Ghana. Every night, over 30,000 children fall asleep on those same streets. ABAN works with the street girls of Accra to help them learn a trade, make a living, and secure a future, as well as to receive the tools to transform their city into a healthier environment.”

Check out their work, donate or buy one their awesome products online- or soon at Whole Foods stores around the Southeast.

Doc Martens Painted with Light

For my first self-promo image of this semester, I photographed Doc Martens by painting them with the different colored light of two flashlights. The rocks were lit with amber light and the shoes were lit with blue light. The whole exposure was 30 seconds.

Re-Imagined Images- Black & White

Nifty Fifty

I just got the super cool, super economical Canon 50mm 1.8 lens. Look for more awesome bokeh and shallow DOF in the future!

10th Annual Asheboro Fall Roundup Horse Parade

Last Sunday, I stumbled upon a whole mess of horses and their owners in downtown Asheboro! It was the 10th annual Asheboro Fall Roundup Horse Parade and there were some wonderful horses and their riders dressed up and on display. I took my new 50mm 1.8 lens down to the parking lot where the parade started and got some shots…

Heavy Metal

For our Small Format class, we were assigned to photograph with flash at an indoor industrial location. I found the Randolph Machine Co. in Asheboro. The owner and workers were friendly and helpful and all the industrial machinery was perfect for photographing. I had to get an overall shot of the shop, a close-up shot of a worker’s hands and a mid-range shot of someone in their work area. Here is my submission for that last shot.

Fourth of July Red White and Blues

We were assigned to capture a trio of photos over the Fourth of July break that had an Americana aspect to them. Unfortunately, it rained on Fourth of July- but I still caught a few shots at the Eno River Festival that same weekend and during the rain…
